Tach install

Installing an aftermarket autometer tachometer and shift light in my 98' z28. Was wondering what pin are you guys tapped into for tach signal from the ECM and preferred location of the actual gauge.

Its been a while since I put mine in but the signal wire was off a white wire middle connector passenger side wheel under the hood engine bay .ther was three connector s .far as wher u want it located I've seen them mounted to the middle of the dash and in the corner of driver side dash as the more popular spots.I had mine in the corner and had to remove it to install my cage and was left with a couple of holes.also green wire is the wire off tac that needs to go to the white wire hope that helps

I tapped into the white wire for my window switch. My cars is a 01 though, not sure if a 98 is the same or not.

For a 98, it's the white wire in terminal 35 on the blue connector. That's the stock tach signal wire, It's where mine is connected.

My tach is mount on the dash a bit left of center
