? for all drag racers i just finished watching mickeys 9.51 run and all i have to say is DAMN(makes me wish i had an ls1 and not a TPI(Total ****-poor Injection) <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[Burnout]" />
it made me think of something i have seen in other videos of really fast cars and also after the track
Why after doing the burnout do alot of people poop the trans in nutral and rev the heck out of it?? is it for oil circulation or to heat the motor up or what?

Re: ? for all drag racers my car is slow to come down after a burnout but at the line i rev it to 4000-5000 rpms for the green and then dump'n go <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0"> <img src="graemlins/camaro.gif" border="0" alt="[Chevrolet]" />

IMO, the answer is just for the fun of it, to help get a little more heat in a cold engine (if it's the first pass), or for the intimidation factor.

Re: ? for all drag racers This mostly comes from the old school carb days. During a burnout the carb. can load up the motor with excess unburned fuel. When you lift it would load up and almost die after the burnout. So they(we) would click it up to nutral and give it a few revs to clear it up. Thats what I do/did it for anyway. Some people say they do it to suck in Good cool air but I don't believe that. Hope this helps

It's to clear off the plugs if you loaded up from revving the motor in the burnout and then getting out of it.
