Has this ever happened to anyone?
Car was running great. 1st time trial I cut a 5.01 light and ran 9.960. I entered the run into the TAG weather station.2nd TT run I cut a 4.98 light
and ran a 9.98?. Entered the run into the TAG weather station.Modified class gets called to the staging lanes. Man I'm ready to go. I go to the staging lanes and wait for the Funny car show to end.
The loud speker says " Modified drivers get to your cars " Man I'm pumped.
I check the TAG weather station and it predicts a 9.88 ET. I'm suprised but it did cool down quite abit and the humidity was fairly low. I put 9.88 on the passinger side window "which is 1/2 down and thus the gist of this story" and on the windshield.
I hop in the car " my drivers side window is all the way down" and proceed to put the windows up. They are DEAD. BOTH WINDOWS WON"T GO UP.
There was 110 cars in the modified class so I had some time. Checked all the fuses. Mark took the big silver relays or fuses "what ever they are" from his car and put them in mine and NO GO.
Borrowed a phillips head screw driver and proceed to take the DS door panel off. We tried to directly jump from the battery and NO GO.
Here I am in the staging lanes with both door panels laying on the pavement and the cars moving up all around me.
You wouldn't believe the racers, my friends, my family, PRP employees all trying to help me out. Man everyone was bummed out. I actually felt bad for them lol.
Well I finially had to pull the car off to the side and face reality. I was out of the race.
Symtoms were the windows were going up and down very slowly for quite awhile.
Then they both stopped working at the same time which was definately the WRONG TIME.
No bad fuses.
Are both motors bad? Any thoughts where I should look?
OH well, I'll be back next week trying again but I doubt I'll see that kind of weather till the fall months.
Gotta love drag racing

BENCH RACING. Checked the TAG prediction later that evening. Really cool night. The prediction was 9.76
I had only 2 runs logged into the TAG so I'm not sure if the car would have run the 9.88 let alone a 9.76 but the TAG prediitions were the highlight of my evening lol

And yes, that same thing has happened to me. My driver's side window did that at our local track. At the Spring Break Shootout this year, I never rolled my window down - because I knew it probably wouldn't make it back up.
Having to open the door to pick up timeslips sucks. I think it's the window motor overheating detection circuit freaking out.I replaced the motor with the Siemens "lifetime warranty" $50 unit from AutoZone. Works great now.
Just drill a few holes in the fiberglass of the inner door panel to expose the rivets of the motor, drill the rivets out, the old motor falls out, the new motor bolts in. 1 hour job (per side
).But it's very odd that both do it at the same exact time... but if they were starting to get very slow, then they were on their way out.
Try it again today with the car cold. They may move.
sorry to hear. my passenger side one has been moving slow for like 3 years now, lol. but it still works. I just don't drop that one at the track ever just to be sure. my drivers one is still fine 6 years strong
I put the wire to ground and they work real good. Fast too
Thanks Dave. Your the man. I owe you a bottle of Sauza Hornitos man.
Thanks to everyone else for trying to help.
Tom
Atleast your not out $115 on window motors.
Those that take the dash boards out, make sure the grounds are hooked up when it goes back together.
Oh well, there's always next week
