Default Track only tire selection

3000lb 6 spd car makng 7-1000whp. I have some 15X8 rims lying around and can fit up to a 28X10.50X15 in my wheel well. What is a good stable tire in a 6spd car like mine?

ET drags.

Warning, they might walk without bias ply (or at LEAST skinny) fronts...

A slick is less hard on parts, easier to launch with, and generally more forgiving on the launch. A radial will spin and spin and not recover until you pedal it. A slick needs spin to get going and recovers from it quickly. Slicks also work better on a shitty prepped track. And yes, stiff wall as said above.

The only downside to a slick is that it is recommended to run bias ply fronts to prevent walking.

We can't tell you whether or not your car will walk. Buy the slicks, if it walks, either sell them or buy bias ply fronts.

Define walk. Also how would a skinny biased ply tire up front correct this issue. I would rather not spend $500 on a set of tires that will be useless to me. I prefer to do a bit of research before I just blindly buy them and try them out.

Then do your research, there's plenty of threads/info on it. The internal construction of a bias ply tire is different and it reacts different. With a bias ply rear tire and radial front tire, cars will sway/walk around mostly on the top end and it can become unstable and very dangerous.

My experience I have never had a walk issue at all. Now the rear tires can sway a bit but never anything alarming.

The instability at higher speeds seems to be the only drawback of the drag tire. I wonder what impact the weight of the vehicle has on this?

Look, you come here asking for questions and expect people to just hold your hand. There's a site called Google, it's not hard to type in 'what is the difference between a radial and bias ply tire' and read.

Here, try this: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=what+is+the+dif...+bias+ply+tire

This is the drag race section, you don't like drag race questions being asked then move the **** on. I'm asking for tire recommendations for a light weight/6spd car making close to 1k not the specific difference between the two tires. That question came up in the middle of the discussion. So why not ask while on the subject? No one is forcing you to help. If you want to bitch go do it in the SRK section.

Quit getting so butthurt. We told you a slick. You asked why, you were told. Your question has been asked 1000 times before, this is nothing new. The search button is a fantastic invention, if only homers like you knew where it was.
