Default Rear Shock adjustments for launching.

I have a hard time launching my M6 car. Nothing but spin. It has very heavy springs and sways, and bigger than stock shocks.

I have rebound-only adjustable rear shocks.

Should I:

Set them equally stiff.

Set them equally soft.

Set the right stiff, left soft.

Set the left stiff, right soft.

I would think it would be best to set the right soft, and the left stiff. This should let the spring plant the right rear harder than the left.

Any ideas?

Have the adjustment one stiffer on the Pass. side run the shocks soft enough to hook the car.

KYB AGX's. They have 1-8 rebound settings.

Have been running 1/1 front, and 5/5 rear for drags, and 8/8 - 7/7 for AutoX.

So I'm thinking 1/1 - 1RR/2LR.

Interesting note: increasing rebound reduces wheelhop I found. Big change. The more rebound, the less hop.

I try those setting as see if it changes anything. I'll know Saturday.

I spoke with KYB ealier this week. The 1-2 setting is designed to be essentially the same as the OEM shocks ... so anything other than that will be stiffer.

To me it makes sense that a stiffer rear will give you a better the launch. If the front is loose and the rear is kept from squatting, it seems to me that the energy should be going directly to the tires.

It would follow that you would want the RR stiffer than the LR ... same principle as an air bag or trick springs.

I'm considering a similar set up as yours, on the back, with a progressive spring - preferably something with a 95 to about 180 lbs/in range.

Still trying to figure out the front, though I'm leaning strongly toward HALs. But, I don't think thier drag spring is going give me what I want.

Mystic I can tell you from my experience with the HAL/QA1 springs is that your stock ones will do just as fine. Shocks are what matters in most cases anyway and give you the most benefit. Run the Hal's with stock springs first. You may not need anything else.
