Default Steering rack

Is there anyway to convert a powersteering rack it a manual? I've got a hold of the rack doctor and he doesn't do it anymore and I've heard there is a write up on how to do it but can't find it. Any help would be appreciated

Basically pull the seals apart inside, put some grease in it and either weld up the hydraulic ends or plug them somehow

I haven't tried this yet. So are the hydraulic fittings pressed into the rack or are they screwed in?

4 on the steering shaft body are just screw in lines, pull those and plug or weld shut and the 2 on the steel black body are male ends. Cut them off and weld shut and grind smooth or just cap.

I went the easy route and just pulled the lines off. turned the wheel back and forth till the left over fluid pumped out and left the holes wide open so it wont build pressure with the seals in there. just drove the thing. It drove exactly the same as my midwest chassis manual rack I have. I cant tell the difference.

I tried that (leaving all ports open) but still built up pressure, don't ask me how but it did. When I had it in the vise tearing it apart, I had to fight against pressure built up in order to get the shaft out.

Pulled the hoses and that's it. Think the ports on the rack are BSPT if you want to loop the lines. Didn't have fitting handy so just left it as is.

When the rack itself is worn and needing replacement I'll save up for a Madman manual steering kit.
