Default First time at the track

Today I went down to the track with some other ls1tech buddys. One in a 2000 WS6 modded with tons of bolt ons, running 12.5s all day long with a 6k dump on slicks. Another buddy in a 2001 SS Camaro with a few bolt ons, best et was a 12.6.Then there was me, tagging along in my 02 Z06. I hadnt planned on running, but once I got to the track I gave in and made 3 total passes. Since I was new to the 1/4 I wanted to take it easy. First pass I went around the water box and went strait to the line (stock 30psi in stock F1's) The lights come down and I leave a little bit hotter than you would a a stopligh, spinning pretty bad in 1st and second. 13.06@114mph. Second pass was same burnout procedure-no burnout, and went a 12.79@110mph, minor slipping but much much better than first pass. Thrid and final pass was a 12.59@110. Not much slipping again, they had just treated the track. I had a great time and surprised myself with my "decent" skills that I seemed to have. My car is completely stock so this is a pretty good baseline run. My question is with the mph on the first run being a full 4mph faster than the other 2 runs with a lot of slipping....howcome the last 2 were lower mph, with great traction..just curious. Have a good one.

A lot of times excessive tirespin can inflate your trap speeds, even though the et will be worse...

I can't explain the physics of it, but it does occur, as you can see from your results...

BTW, good runs for your first time out!

When you have a lot of spin in 1st gear you get into high gear sooner, so you cover more of the track in in 3rd and or 4th.You will cover more ground faster in the higher gears. It is like making the track longer.

Nice times, you should lower pressure, and do a burnout then see what it runs!
