Default 'Chute Question

I am currently in the planning stages of putting a 'chute on my C5 as I anticipate needing one this fall. I have read the NHRA manual, but it doesn't give me the answer I need. I currently have a Class 1 hitch on the 'vette, would I be able to pass tech if I had a custom parachute mount that goes into the hitch receiver?

I would call an inspector in your area and ask them. I wouldn't see why they wouldn't allow it as a lot of chutes mount with just 1 bolt or pin to a receiver that's welded to the chassis.

That is an accident waiting to happen... Not because of the mounting system, but because of the mount placement.

I manufacture a direct bolt-on C5 mount package that is properly located and will not interfere with your hitch.

I don't need to utilize the hitch to mount it, just thought it might work. I am far from a chassis guy lol.

I looked at the one on your website, but I can't picture how/where it mounts. Do you have any other pictures?

I think he's saying that just cause it's soo low, it could lift the back tires off the ground. Lower than the center of gravity.

Yea that ^^^. Most will mount higher on the chassis so that when the chutes hit, its either pulling level of slightly downward. Most are level.

Also, just for some info. If you've never used a chute before, you want the chute to pop and hit before you come off throttle. We are always still wide open with our cars and dragsters when the chutes hit. You don't want the weight being transferred or already forward when the chute hits. That will also unload the rear tires.
