Shallow staging= Better ET's?

Shallow staging= Better ET's? Can someone explain to me how this works? I know i'm missing something here..i don't see how you could net a better ET by doing this...

Re: Shallow staging= Better ET's? You really won't see a huge difference in a street car, it works better for a top fuel dragster or funny car. The idea is that you are further back, so you get a tiny bit of a rolling start (an extra few inches) So in a street car you might run .001 quicker, but because the pro cars are so much faster they'd see better results. The reaction times aren't as good though, which is why the pro guys don't do it all that often. They are more concerned with the win than going for best ET.

Re: Shallow staging= Better ET's? Just like Pat said... By staging shallow you give yourself a little more of a rolling head start before the timers actually start. I agree with Pat that it won't be worth too much, but it is more than .001sec...
