Default 1/4 Times!

I don't understand all you guys running those fast #s, maybe the tracks are better, or the weather is or some thing. I have the same mods alot of people have and they say they are running like 12.8-13.0, all I can manage is 13.5.

2.134
5.855
8.855
82.10
11.407
13.564
104.44

on Nittos @ 18lbs launch @3000 and shift at 6000.
WHAT IS UP?

Since when does driver skill have to do with MPH?

I meant to say the tracks, or the weather on the East Coast must be better, or everyone is stripping their cars.

I just ran a 13.5 @ 102 with my BONE stock (down to paper air filter) 98 trans am A4/3.23 car. I had a 2.05 short time.

Hows your driving/shifting?

It has a ton to do with mph. I have seen cars mph 4-5mph higher from a driver change with similar ET

The battle is getting you're 60' downs. With drag radials you should be able to manage sub 2.0 60 fts and that will bring your time down considerably. Every .1 in your 60ft usually equates to .15 in the 1/4. You've got plenty of power to go 12's, just have to get it out of the hole.

You sound like you're doing everything right. But that is an awful 60' time for
nittos. It should be ATLEAST 1.97-2.02.Are you spinning or bogging?
Are you heating the tires good?(5 sec burnout).Launch depends on track conditions.
Sometimes I come out @ 3500,and other times @1500.Keep practicing and
experimenting.Maybe your car is real heavy?Weight is always an issue.

You are in Washington right? Is it possible that you are at a high elevation? That makes a BIG difference because the air is thinner.

It's your 60' that is hurting you.When I got 2.2 60's I could only manage 13.3-13.5.
I run stock Firehawk tires at 25psi and smoke the hell out of them. Then of the line I rev to 3000rpm and quickly get off the clutch and floor it.This will get me 1.93-2.0 60's.Then shift like you want to kill the car.Ussually gets me 13.0?.
My car weighs in at around 3800.I don't take out anything.I race for fun.

How? Normally I tach to 3000 RPM then I don't realy dump it I let off quick. Then all my shifts are at 6000 RPM in my 6spd.
Do you have any ideas of what I could do different?

Ok,

I would take the front sway bar off to help weight transfer, do a good burnout, and see if that helps. If not, keep dropping the RPM's until you don't spin or atleast very little. You might have to slip the clutch just a little so you don't shock the rearend. I would also try shifting at 6200-6300 and see if that helps on the big end. Should be worth a MPH or so.

Thanks for the info, I will try those ideas this weekend. The tracks I run at are about 300-500 ft elevation, and I don't loose traction, I do a good 5-10 sec burnout, and it doesn't feel like I am bogging, or loosing traction. Maybe I am not shifting hard enough, you know I love my car and don't want to kill it. I know these cars take it and ask for more, I just need to get over the mental block. Thanks alot!

I descreened and ported my MAF last night, so maybe that was my most restrictive part, that did not allow the other mods to be seen as much, because it was corked up so much.
