Default Help with a budget bracket race setup

New here. Been lurking a little while, but getting closer to getting wet. Want to build my first LS for a bracket race only combo. Looking at a 6.0 iron block combo?

Will be put in a 67 Firebird, stock eliminator suspension setup - Cal tracks, 12 bolt with 4:88's, 29x9 slicks, glide with 5000 stall, and adding a T brake. Car works pretty well, 1.48 60' times with IHRA ZZ4 combo currently.

Thinking stock bottom end, add cam/lifters/springs, headers, electric water pump, MSD box. Will be intake with Alky carb setup.

Anyone running a combo like this? What motor - heads do I want? What cam suggestions? What RPM can I run with stock bottom end?

Remember, budget and new to LS motors... more details the better!

thanks in advance
Ken

You could get some 243 or 799 factory heads and they will bump compression also. or if you want to spend a little more some budget CNC heads are the PRC heads. $1,100-$1,400. I'd talk to Martin Smallwood about a cam. I run a carbed setup on my truck with the MSD box and a Vic jr intake and it works well. Might want to post in carbed section for the alky setup

Thanks, appreciate the info. Will post in the carb section also.
Looking forward to this, just want to get as much knowledge and info as possible before I start.

If you're going to go alky and bracket race a rons terminator setup out in a super victor intake, and a set of ported 243 heads would likely be about your most budget friendly setup. I would spend the $ on a set of pistons and rods if you want to run alcohol, just because you're going to be a lot better off... Easier to get compression up for alcohol, etc.

1/2 fill the 6.0 block, studs in the bottom end and I would pin the caps for the sake of doing it. Alcohol you won't need a lot of cooling so small radiator, and the lower flowing mez. Pump would be fine, won't need a tstat.

Thanks, will be checking out Thompson Motorsports when I get closer to building. Good to know there is some good LS knowledge close to home.
