Default Rollbar tech question

Hi guys I'm new to the forum and have some questions about removable cross bars on a roll bar. I'm new to drag racing and just got a 1970 nova with a mild 383 stroker, it's got a bit of work to do before I get it to the track and before I get my license (only seventeen) but while I've got the interior out I'm considering a rollbar for the track. The car is a high twelve second car according to the old owner, who had a time slip for 12.93 at 108. I'd like a 6 point roll bar to minimize body twist and as insurance in case of anything unexpected, but I would still like to be able to use my back seats and a welded crossbar renders them mostly useless. Since my car is slow enough to not even need a roll bar would I be able to get away with a removable cross bar or am I just better off to not get a rollbar in the first place? Another question is if there's any legal way to have a cage without a crossbar. I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself but I like to know my options and be able to make a fully thought out decision. Thank you in advance for the advice.

As long as you don't go to fast then the roll bar should pass (be allowed) with a removeavble back brace. http://www.cachassisworks.com/p-527-...-34-x-134.aspx
I would put a cage/roll bar in it for safety sake.

Thanks for your reply. I came to the same conclusion about getting one for safety and am relieved to know I should be able to still use my back seats. I currently have the interior out to put in bucket seats and am looking for a shop near Seattle, if anyone has a suggestion for a place that could build one custom that will fit better than a pre fab kit I would greatly appreciate suggestions. It looks like what I'm considering should be roughly $1500 for a mild rolled steel 6 pt or 2000 for chromoly. Is that a reasonable estimate?

Check the rules.. AIRC, if it's there, it has to be legal.

You can use your back seats provided your passengers wear helmets. Those steel bars do not give, padded or not.

Personally, I would skip it, until the times you are running dictates you need one, ie: 11.49 or faster.
