Trans Am WS6 420,

They'll be just like the factory glass with no flutter. Tint will be done after the Lex/Plex is installed. They would rivet in with the same hardware that's in your glass now. Man, I'm so busy with my other two companies, I'll try to see what I can do with my uncle. First thing to do is go buy one of each piece of glass (Firebird/Camaro), send it to the fabricator (there's a real good company in Mexico) and let them make the prototypes. Then beat the crap out of them and install them in someones car and do some testing.
Maybe I'll take a poll to see how much interest there is soon. If I put up the cash for all the R&D I want to make sure it's worth a damn. I estimate it will cost about $4000.00. I have allot of out-of-town things to do until May 7th, you live 10 minutes from me, if your interested I'll get in touch with you and we'll chat about this thing. If I do decide to take it on (investment-wise) I can't put a whole lot of time into it because of my other companies, maybe you can help.
I'll e-mail you soon. Also, my car is being brought to Orlando in a week or so for it's little makeover from ARE/Norris Motorsports.

Sounds good to me. I think there would be a decent demand for them. Lemme know if you need a hand with anything. I'll voulenteer as proto-type bitch, as long as we send someone ELSE's glass to Mexico. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

FYI everyone interested.

Pro Glass Windows DO NOT make ANY Plexi or Lexan glass products for street cars. RACE CARS ONLY! The lady I spoke to said that even if they did they would not be able to roll down, there glass is to flimsy.

So, it's still on, I just have to find the time. I already have a call in to a manufacturer in Mexico, they're working up some estimates for me for the molds.

If you do the back glass and the 2 doors on a Firebird, the weight reduction should be around 70 lbs. I spoke to them about the T-Tops and they told me the same thing as last time, they can make a mold for ANYTHING, but first I need to speak with the DOT and make sure it's not violating any structural integrity rules of the car. I dought very seriously if the T-Tops have any structural value concerning the roll-over test, it's the windshield that keeps the roof from collapsing.

I'll keep you posted.

This sounds like a good idea, removing weight from this high should lower center of grav.

Can it really take 70lbs off the car. I'd do it even if it only took 45lbs off.

Lexan scratches easily, and I would not want roll up Lexan windows period.

Your correct, however it doesn't scratch VERY easily. Plexi will be the way to go anyway. It's lighter, cheaper and strong enough for this application.

Its at my chassis shop for months now, I'm not really sure. Something like 10-12lbs.
A guy I know bought one and said it was a 50lb drop, a little much I think?? I would guess it would be a ~40lb drop though.

I put up a poll to see if it's worth doing.

Yes the ones I plan on designing will be exactly like factory, same exact shape, same thickness and will roll up and down with power motors and/or roll up type.

Testing will follow the first prototypes, but it will work just fine. As for the backglass, that's something that will also be installed on a car, but it's a no-brainer, it will work great.

Guessing does NO good, do you know what it weighs or not? If you don't, can you stand on a scale with it, and then do it without it and report both findings, Thanks it will be greatly appreciated.

I would like to know the company that you bought it from too.

Thanks again!

It is at my chassis guys place and its in a huge box that weighs 25lbs. It has to be half of that. The guy who told me about this rear window said he dropped 50lbs... I haven't weighed a stock window... I beleive it is a pro-glass piece.

Do you know what it costs?

Strange, I spoke with a lady at that company and they said they do not make Lexan or Plexi for street cars.

Damn, thats allot of monet for a backglass, especially since you have to destroy your car (a little bit) to rivet the thing in. To seal it from rain would look pretty cheezy to. That's why the lady I spoke with said it's only for true race cars.

Rear windows don't look cheesy! I seen them in a bunch of 3rd and 4th gen cars at the track, and they look mint. Sealing them is easy for your local chassis shop to do. Its the same as a stock window, especially if you tint it.
