Serious HP question----> Okay sy u have 380RWHP and r running 11.40's at 117.Then u add 60RWHP to the car.
What would u expect to pick up in ET and MPH
The reason I ask is I believe at 11.40's u will not see the gains u would if say u were running 12.00 and added 60RWHP.Diminish and return come into play and its takes more hp to gain a tenth as a car gets quicker and quicker.
I've been told 3 tenths and 3 mph would be realistic but I feel more like 4 tenths and 4 MPH would be on par?
I want real opinions not somebody flaming me.

Re: Serious HP question----> Once you get into the 11s, the simple "10hp=tenth" approximation doesn't apply.
I'd estimate just under 4 tenths and 4 mph for the ET/MPH range you are considering.
For example, I went from 11.61 @ 400 rwhp to 11.21 at 455 rwhp with no other changes. 60' times were a little better on the 11.21 setup also, about a half a tenth.

Re: Serious HP question----> Ditto what Nineball said about 4 tenths and 3.5-4mph tops given that traction is the same. Also depends on where you gain the power. If you pick up 60RWHP in the 4000-5500 range you will pick up more than if you gain 60RWHP in the 5700-7500rpm range. This is dependant on vehicle weight and gearing of course <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: Serious HP question----> also I don't put any faith in peak power gains, to me it don't mean crap...its how much hp you put down the whole 1/4 mile (area under the curve)

Well the best I ran in -1781 DA's was 11.43@117 after 100 passes.The best this new sertup has gone with me driving is 11.29@119 but thats was in -110 DA's and only 5 runs since install too.
I'm hoping for 11 teens now and poss. another tenth towards the fall.Thanks guys...
