Questioning the trans.
-which one is the best to go with.
-also i am on a budget and will be using a holley dominator setup for ecu.
A benefit of the 80e is that there are programmable shift points. You don't have to run some fancy shifter setup, or worry about slapping the ratchet shifter every time you race. Just put it in D3, adjust your shift points accordingly, and let her eat. Consistent and repeatable.
For all out race, making gobs of power, a 400 is probably going to be cheaper, and they are known to eat less power than the 80e. Best thing I can say, no matter which trans you go with, is get a converter spec'd for your setup. You can buy an off the shelf "4000 stall" but getting one spec'd is going to be better in every way for your setup.
do i need to adapt the flex plate to put a th400 trans on or will the stock flex-plate work. i didn't search for very long but i found a few post on a quick google search that said some of the older gm 6.0s have no need to adapt them because of a longer crank. and others said different. but i dont know. do i need to buy a different flexpalate or just use the stock flexplate.
