Sounds like the pressure is low then when the tire grows the pattern changes
At the track I've always run 10.5 psi in the rear tires and the heavy black marks towards the edges of the tires were more prevalent at the beginning of a burn out. When I did the test this weekend, I had raised them to 12 psi and it still had the same pattern, but not quite as bad. What kind of pressure is common for a 28/10.5 soft wall?

For reference I ran 14psi on my 167mph run, it was solid till i l went to grab the chute and took a hand off the wheel

I also found at lower pressure the wheel wants to spin in the tire

Oh wow, I reckon I'll bump up from the 10.5psi I've been running then. My tires are bolted, so I haven't had any issues with the wheel spinning.

I wouldn't run that high of pressure in a slick, especially with a tube in it. Can cause the tube to distort.

I'll probably try 11-12 next time at the track and see how it feels. My skinnies came in the mail today so I'm mounting them tomorrow.

Mine are the stiff sidewall Hoosiers, my burnouts are even across and at 14psi it's way less jiggly at the big end than it was when running down near 10psi

I bet it's a trade off. I wonder what it feels like with them big 33 inch tires

Thanks for the help guys! Went to the track yesterday with the new ET Fronts and 1 more psi in the rear tires and it went straight as an arrow on every pass! Also got a new personal best of 8.63 @158.
