Default A4 Guys....Inside ---->>>

I've made about 10 passes so far. To date, my best has been a 2.2 60' which gave me a 13.5 @ 105. Here's my question: should I be racing with the tranny in "OD" or in "D"? Ever pass I've made it's been in "D". About 100 feet out from the 1/4mi line I feel like the car wants to shift again. It's usually about about 6,000 rpms. Will letting it shift again give me a few mph extra on the trap speed?

As you can see from my horrible 60' time, I can't get any traction. Since this is my daily driver I'm not going to buy Nitto's or anything else. Question: should I roll into the launch and then mash away once I have traction? I've been punching it from about a 1500rpm brake torque.

Keep it in "D." Letting it shift into OD will put tons of extra stress on the tranny and probably hurt your ET and MPH.

I've always ran mine in D and never had much trouble out of it.

When I had the 2.73 gear in I would run the local 1/8 track with it in 2

Screw the od though I have heard some say they run better with it in od.

As George said, you want to keep it in D3 to prevent the shift into OD.

My car shifts into 3rd about the time you mentioned. Are you saying you're in 3rd at 6000 rpms 100 ft before the finish?

D is the best for dragracing and to extend the lift of the transmission. Supposedly more line pressure in D too but I have not heard that from any GM contacts.

That seems odd that you have 3.23's and are turning 6000 rpms at the lights in 3rd. Are you sure about your gearing?

I think we have a problem here, in drive at the end of the 1320 on motor only I am pulling 4660 rpm !

No where near the 6000 that U are claiming !

Maybe I'm mistaken. Maybe it is the 2nd to 3rd shift. It's rainy here this week. If it clears up I'll go back to the track next Wednesday to verify.

And yes, I'm positive they are 3.23 gears.

With the 3.23's there is no way you will hit OD running 13.50's at 105. I don't even get close running 12.50's.

So how should I launch? Ease into it then hammer away once I get traction?

For easiness, my wife leaves the Hawk in OD.

She burns out, rolls to the line and then
stages & floors it.

Should she be in "D".

I didn't think it made any difference?????

she runs 12.5s@107 with 1.78 60ft times.

3600lbs, Nittos, Y3200, Ypipe, computer.

Anyone know where 3.42's would put me?

its not going to matter, becuz your never going to hit OD or 4th gear in the 1/4
if you do, your having problems.

WicketMike...

Suppose I am hitting 4th in the 1/4 mile. You said I'd "have a problem". What sort of problem?

Like I said though, I'll let you guys know for sure soon. I'm dying to get back to the track anyway. This give me a good reason!

My car has 3.23's also, and i have ran it up to 160mph a couple of times and my car doesn't shift outta 3rd til' 135mph. So if you are going into OD at the track something is not right.

Also why would it matter that you are in D or OD, I always leave mine in OD and it run's just fine, I have never tried it in D though, next time i will try it for the heck of it
