10 point while keeping A pillar gauges
Just make sure all your interior work is done (wiring, etc) as it is a PITA to work on a 4th gen with a full cage. The cage in my car is done like above. There is not much room in a 4th gen for a full cage so not really many choices for the front bars. You could go in front of the dash but that does not look as nice (to me it also would not seem as ridged as the above pic). My drivers front bar is tucked a little more towards the fender with a doglegged door bar but it is very similar to the above pic.
I just finished reinstalling my interior from a MWC 8 point roll bar install today. I have 3 gauges on the pillar and discussed adding a halo and down bars to complete a full cage over winter with my chassis guy today. We were talking about retaining those 3 gauges in that location... Let me say, it's a bitch getting in and out of this thing and that pillar pod of gauges is definitely in the way. That extra 2" would make a big difference and I'm a small guy. Problem is I already have 3 other gauges in my upper center vents in the dash. Looks like I'll be relocating them elsewhere over winter if I go for the full cage addition. Probably in HVAC or Radio area. I know it sucks to move them, but I'll be happy that I did I'm sure, and I'm betting you would too. However I completely agree, id prefer to wrap the door bars tucked in behind them and leave them there too! Tough decision.
