Default Question on how to launch w/ vig3200

Hello,
I am having my transmisson rebuilt (after 16k miles), transgo shift kit, supercooler, and a vig 3200 installed tomarrow and in am really antcipating taking it to the track sat.(june 8th). Do you guys have any advice on a good launching technique? I will be using nitto's or yokohama A032r's depending on what classI run in. Any advice you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Another thing I should mention is that our local track is only a 1000ft track, if it makes any difference. Any estmations on how much time I should drop after this. (current best is 10.51@98 1000ft.)

my vig (and most others i hear) dont like to be stalled up too high...pretty much idle to 1000 rpms is good.

drive around the waterbox, back into it, roll out of it and do your burnout on the dry pavement with your tires wet. make sure they get smokey

With my built 700R4 and a VIG 3200 on AO32R's I stalled it with the best luck at around 1200-1500

Same here,

I've tried launching my Vig 3200 in 250 RPM increments from idle up to 2500 RPM and it seems to respond best at 1000 RPM and my idle is set at 900 RPM. So now I just launch at idle, best 60ft 1.684.

launching at idle gets me consistent 1.71's
launching at 2k gets me consistent 1.68's

that's just the way it works for me on e.t. drags. every car is different. mine just likes it higher.

We've found with my wife's car that it like about 1200-1300 the best. 60's are consistently mid-low 1.6s.

I've found that 7-900 rpms is best for my car. Best 60' is 1.63, but usually in the high 1.6's - and 60' does affect my 1/4 greatly...

i checked my slip and my 1000 was 9.95 with a vig3600

its very simple to launch so just do the burnout DRIVEATA stated! Once you get to the tree, just listen to the car and rev up slightly(listen to motor). I seldom look at the tach cause im watching the tree and thiking about my launch

I did glance one time and i always seem to be around 1000-1250. I've tried dead idle launches but i cant hook with nittos, so i would love to see the 60's there

make sure you have 19psi in both tires!! and recheck after each pass! because your pressure will go up from 19 to say 22 and get higher with each burnout.

but just get up there and pratice! I went from 1.70's to low 1.60's and upper 1.5's learning how to launch!! Make sure the track is prepped and dont give up.
Nittos will hold 1.5's and low 1.6's easy, so if your not hooking its not the tires, its the track. Just play with your launch rpms

I learned to launch on Nitto's basically from 98TAauto and the Colonel plus some others. If you used nittos--make sure you do a long burnout and proceed to the line immediately. My best 60' times seem to come when I launch at 2200 RPM's. After H/C and ET streets, sixty foot times dropped to 1.602 and 1.608. Maybe eventually I will catch 98TAauto--HeHeHe. Now I launch car from 1500 to 1800 RPM's on my 3200 vig. I suggest you do a search on 98TAauto number because he has many good suggestions on vig. convertor and nittos tires. He is pretty good with his setup. Good luck and cheers.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the advice. The stall didn't show up on the UPS truck today, but they said it will be here for sure tommarow (maybe). I've got the burn out technique down pretty good, best 60ft of 1.89. I counted some time slips and the previous transmission lasted 300+ passes (2 years) at our local track. Does any one know if a rebuilt will last this long? Thanks again for the advice.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go into the water box with treaded tires. ET Streets or slicks only.

The tread will pick up water and sling it into your fender wells, then drip onto the track.

That's a quick way to **** alot of people off.

I'd imagine that some tracks might let you run nittos in the box, but you better ask first.

BTW, just LOVE my ST3500.
