I'm the proud owner of a 2002 SOM vert. I has been getting up there in miles, so I decided to start accumulating some parts for a rebuild. I picked up a lq4 with a harness, thought about selling it, but it never sold. I picked up a used nx express kit at a deal. I also managed to snag a set of Advanced Induction 232 799 heads. Then I got hesitant because I've had this car for six years now and I know the trans and rear (10 Bolt) won't last too long. I've read several write up on sbe 6.0 liters safely taking a 150 shot. I like this car and don't want to break it.
I have a 2008 C6 six speed with the z51 package. I came close to buying an ECS kit for it, but money didn't work out like i wanted, so it never happened. i got myself straightened out and bought a back hoe for my business use. I needed a trailer though. While I was scanning craigslist and market place on face book. I came across a deal that i missed about a year prior (same car). A 1970 Z28 big tire car. NO rust, must have been a drag car most of its life. 468 big block, powerglide with trans brake and 12 bolt geared with a 456. sitting on 31x14 slicks. I pulled the trigger and purchased it with the trailer as a package deal.
The car had been sitting for at least two years, very neglected. It would run, but barely. I had to redo the entire fuel system and have the dominater rebuilt. I had it tuned on the car. I had to replace the front tires due to dry rot. Take out the cracked plexiglass front and rear windows and install lexan. Had to go through the brakes. Various leaks. little tedious, time consuming items. The whole time i'm doing this i keep staring at all the ls parts i have around. So this season is coming to a close and the class i want to run (6.0) is over. There are some test and tunes left. Thats about it. I still need to invest in an alternator kit, because the previous owner charged it between runs. I dont want that hassle.
So i decided to stop messing with that big block at that point. I'm going to use the 6.0 and all the ls parts i have and put them in this 1970 camaro. I sold the engine this week and it will fund most of my build over the winter. I want to open this thread so i can get pointers and advice from people that are more educated with this than me.
I want to use the sbe 6.0 with a 150 shot maybe up to a 200 shot since i will have a large fuel pump to handle the demand. My goal is to run a good cam with this kit and be competitive in the 6.0 class this spring. I'm hoping this is feasible due to the shedding of 200 pounds off of the front of the car. This will have to be somewhat of a budget build. I only want to use the parts I have and the money FROM the sale of my big block.

Default out with the old!

The engine was stout. It was loud and definitely was a race engine. Now its heading to a S10 truck!

Found an intake I wanted to try. Came with 102 tb and rails. It was packaged well was shipped pretty quick. Ordered some other parts. I'll update when they come in.
