Default New F1 60' marks :)

Well, I went back to Atco tonight from a miserable TnT day, the traction was terrible in our street tire left lane in the day time. Anyway, I believe I set a new best 60' mark for myself tonignt on F1's I went a 1.69 babying it out of the hole for a 12.10 at 111.98 with no LS6 intake manifold and no ASP pully just for experimental sake, I had to see just what those two parts were worth to me in the quarter and it looks as if it is 2 tenths and 2 MPH loss without them on street tires. soo, with those parts re-installed, I will be back to an 11.90 at 113.98 on average, then I will begin running the rest of my times on DR's or M&T's and begin launching higher then 1,100 rpm and get some 1.5x 60' marks out of it so I can get down to 11.6x range. I really don't want to put a cage in it, but with the next trip to the track I will be getting thrown out on the first pass.

Damn, I thought the 1.85 I got one time on F1s was pretty good. I ran right after a top alcohol dragster had done a monster burnout <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> I was normally in the 2.0x range on the F1s.

Joe, YOU 'DA MAN!!! How on earth are you getting that kind of 60' time <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> That is absolutely unbelieveable!!! I assume this must be an A4 with a high stall converter and you have zero tire spin?

Yup! It's a 3,600 Vig 7 pump on stock gears, I was consistantly in the 1.71 - 1.72's for a few passes that I was raising one eyebrow at for a couple passes. Then, I lined up with a ligit race car, big ole tires/cage/skinnies and hammering open exhaust that was ratteling my fillings out while we were doing out burnout. Well, long story short, I figured I would at the very least leave him sitting at the line for a second or two with a good RT, we staged up and I was totally on my game, the lights were comming down and I can tell this guy WASN'T going down to some Camaro street car! so, the lights came down and at the last yellow, he creeped the beam and became deep staged, (I think his trans brake stuck at the wrong time?) On green, I layed a .539 RT on him as he proceded to red light and chuggle off the line, I put down that 1.69 with my drivers side wheel bouncing off the race track and it was bizz as usual, I mentally block out the car that I am racing all the time (unless they are ahead of me crossing into my lane!) I actually beat this car to the end of the track! he ran a 13.13 to my 12.10! It felt real good to put this car down because I knew, the spectators in the stands were definately betting on my opposing car. who would have guessed! LOL!
gotta luv these LS1's!!

Come on Joe, enoughs enough, come clean about the baby shot off the line.....

Just kidding. Joe definitely knows the feel of launching a car with a converter and what the threshold of the tires is.

I need to get back to the track sometime soon.

You might need to give me a lesson or two on launching my car now.

I just ordered a 4000 stall TC.

I hope I can leave the line as well as you.

Awesome driving... that's crazy on F1's <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

Why can't you 60' my car like that?! Maybe I need to give you some driving lessons <img border="0" alt="[jester]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_jest.gif" />
Anyway, I need to acquire some of these JPR driving skills, plan on having a group purchase any time soon? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

To my knowledge, that is the fastest 60'time I have heard of for F1's. I have a vig 3200 and run MT Slicks--please explain you launch techique in detail if you don't mind? I sincerely would appreicate it. My fastest 60' with 17 inch Nitto's is 1.63 and on MT slicks is 1.602. I am always trying to learn and your approach explained would help me. Thanks again.

JPR,

Congrads on the great day at the track. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

I know how it feels to beat the big tire full race cars. On Sunday all my time trails I beat the paints off the full race cars. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Everyone was asking about my LS1 Hot Rod. They wanted to know what did I do to this thing to get it to run so well. I just say not much. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

Best of luck to ya. <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />

This is an old E-mail that I sent out to a friend as advise to launch. This was lightly edited for end net ET but you will get the idea.

Coach,
Yes! it is fun putting down the loud big tire cars some nights, but more times than others, I am the one getting my azz kicked off the start line! Like I said before, I luv these LS1's! What other motor in the world can you idle at 850-900 rpm and make 500 flywheel horse on stock cubes?

JPR thanks for sharing the launch technique. Quite impressive for F1's. I never would have thought those kind of 60' times were possible on street tires. I guess there is always someone who can cross the normal threshold and you have done it. It seems alot of vig's like to be baby or feather off the line. To be honest--for me off the line is to launch at a certain RPM and hit the throttle wide open on my vig 3200. Maybe I am to have to bit the bullet and readjust my launch. It will be a big adjustment for me, but I will try. I am adding a Kmember and upper and lower control arms on front to save about 40 pounds. I am hoping this way help my takeoff. Anyway thanks for the information. Kent.
