Default 60ft question....

I typically 60ft in the mid 1.6 sec range. I have a 6-speed car with 4.11's and a 26" tire. Shifting out of 1st at about 6500.

Am I past the 60ft timer when I make the 1-2 shift?

Something I've never noticed before....just curious.

Because in order to move 60 ft in 1.65 seconds you would need to average 1.38 Gs. If you average 1.38 Gs for 1.65 seconds you'll be moving 49.6 MPH.

P.S. I cheated! <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

I'm moving 59.7 MPH at the 60 ft mark. Neat, my 0-60 MPH time is roughly the same as my 1.37 60 ft time. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

I'm at 55.3 mph by the 60' marker, and I can verify that I shift into 2nd as my wheels are starting to come back down <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Ok. I have nothing to argue with the math, other than it seems too fast.

For example...I'm going 49 mph with my 60 ft, according to the calculator. I can go 35 mph in 1st (7000 rpm, 3.37 1st gear, 4.56's, 25.6" tire) and I can only run to 59 mph in 2nd (7000 rpm, 1.99 2nd gear), so I'm over half way through 2nd gear by the 60 fts, according to the calculator.

I do know that I shift just a bit before the 60 ft lights. Seems a bit off to me.

Oh well. No biggie. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Assuming an actual tire height of 26" (have you measured?) and a 60 ft time of 1.65 I calculate that you are moving approximately 49.6 MPH when crossing the 60 ft mark. This would put you at 7008 RPM if you maintained 1st gear so yes, you are shifting into 2nd before the 60 ft mark.

Hmmmm....Stephen....how did you come up with ~50 mph in 1.65 seconds....ie...the 60 ft mark? That seems a bit much, though I'm curious about how you did it.

Thanks.
