Thumbs up Z28 Update!

I thought it was time for an update on my project Super Gas Z28. The B&M Race TH400 trans and 8" Race converter are going in this week, we are waiting for delivery of three BMR pieces (TH400 Trans X-member, X-Treme TQ Arm and SFCs). The FlowTech headers and ORY pipe are also going in. The 12-bolt is in as well. We need to lengthen the 3.5" chrome-moly driveshaft too. All we need now is the shifter (also will be a B&M, yes I have connections with them ). Our mechanic is forcasting the car to be running by this weekend, but we'll have to wait until the suspension pieces are welded on ... this will be next week or the following. After which, E-Tune will be working on it. So looks like in about a month we'll have some timeslips to report. I am so excited!

We will be using the stock LS1 with heads and cam (possibly upping to a 408 in the future), it won't need to be streetable and it will be on an "anorexic model" diet! We might run a delay box (for the 9.90) for better consistency.

I don't mean to sound like a dick but do you think it will run faster than 9.90 on a stock LS1 with only heads and a cam. Maybe I missed somthing. I always thought to be competative in any Super class (exp Super Stock) you would have to be able to run faster than the index and throttle stop it down. Unless you are using Nitrous. Sorry to sound like an a-hole. Just wondering.

Electronics make sense (delay box, etc) for starting line consistency, but Super Gas racers usually use massive bigblocks in tubeframe/shell cars and throttle-stop to 9.90. They run 9.90 CONSISTENTLY... I'd be looking to do a 408 or 422 and a throttle stop and full electronics...and a powerglide.

Maybe I just don't get it.

My main target right now is to get it running, as close as possible to 9.90s. A stock cubed LS1 with the right heads and cam will run in the 9s ... albeit with serious weight reduction. This won't be a anywhere near a street car in a 6 months to a year. In the future we will be upgrading to a forged 408 and a delay box. If you can run on your index, what des it matter if you used a delay box to run 9.90 or used 100% power to run 9.90? First to the finish line is the winner.

maybe so but when youll be makin bout 135-140 mph the rest are making 160ish mph and that will give them a BIG advantage
