Default 15x10 wheels question

I posted this in the "correct" forum but got no response so maybe the mods will be so kind as to let me keep it here.

Anyway, will a 15x10 wheel (7.5" backspacing) and 26x11.5 - 15 ET Street fit with the stock rearend and no, ummm... engineering in the fender well? We realize we'll have to grind the heck out of the calipers, but otherwise, will they fit without sticking out from under the car or scraping anything?

The wheels are 15x10 Monocoque "Challenge Stars", if it matters.

TIA

Those are the same measurements as my Weld wheels and the fit fine with a spacer and some grinding. Can't say 100% for sure if those wheels will fit the same though. Different brand, so may have a little different fitment.

Kristi,

Long time since I've heard from you here. How are you.

Just bought another car (long story) to build and put my LS1 into. It has 15x10 Weld Pro Stars on the rear with 28x12.5x15 ET streets. The rear end a slightly narrowed and allows for the 28" tire without any bulge out the side. Not sure the back spacing.

We were teaching my daughter to race (remember from February at Steele). She was doing real well, until June 1. Lost control of the rear end and with her inexperience tried to drive through it and correct with the steering. Finally fish tailed too hard and the ET Streets caught and threw her off the track and into some hay bales. She was bruised and shook up but walked away. The car is a total, so that's why I'm rebuilding.

Hope all is well with you and everyone in B'ham.

I did enough grinding to cast another caliper.
But I don't run spacers and my old 26x15x11.5's fit fine with my 15x10's.
They tucked in neatly.
28x15x12.5, well that took a little more persuasion.
Just be sure to check your clearance on the studs first.
Once you have clearance there, check it with the wheels torqued all the way on, and check clearance again.

We're going to try to fit them this weekend and see. I believe they'll work, because Monocoque drag wheels are designed for late-model race cars (stockers, etc) with big brakes and stock rearends. We'll see.

AndUandI- Great to hear from you. I haven't been on much because I was planning a wedding I got married August 17, to the guy who was with me at the BFBA shootout in Steele, AL I met him at NFRA last year. He's a friend of Joe's, but I don't hold that against him I'm SO sorry to hear about your daughter but very glad she's not seriously injured. Is she spooked from driving now? When do you expect to have the new car on the track?

Thanks for the replies, guys. I knew the drag racing people would come through where the appearance and detail section failed

Monocoque are some real nice rims. You may want to consider the Bogarts we carry which are we designed specifically to fit without grinding the calipers nor the use of spacers needed. The style you listed looks almost identical to one of our Bogart P1 series rim called the drag star series.

Kristi check the Bogarts out. Thats what I have 15x9.75, 7.5 backspacing w/26x11.50x15 ET Streets. No grinding calipers, light and look great. PPO can get them for you. Click the link for how they look on my car.

I'm very familiar with the Bogarts... nice wheels and a favorite in Stock and Super Stock due to their brake clearance and exceptionally light weight.

However, I already have the Monocoques. I bought them for my race car last year and they've been sitting in the box while the race car keeps getting put on a back burner. I was surprised to find out that the wheels I'd bought were also the correct backspacing for the SS, so we thought we'd get some use out of them.

Thanks so much for the advice, though

Congratulations on your wedding. (cheers from Ginny/Tori too).

Tori will get back in the seat, though it will be with me as a passanger again for a while. I'm pretty proud of her for a 16-year-old. She cut the best times ever on the Formula (10.1 in 1000').

I should have the car this weekend. With luck I suspect it will be back together in 30-60 days. Maybe I'll make the Thunderracing event.

I have 15x10 7.5BS Welds with 27x11.5-15 Hoosier QTP's on a lowered car. I rolled my fenderlips on the top edge, but probably didn't need it. I would guess that it would fit fine on a non-lowered car.

There is one pic where I tried to show the fender clearance. Check it out.

ScottyG- Those look great on your car... they really fill the wheel well up nicely. Our car has the Eibach for SLP kit that's supposed to lower the car 1" but it really didn't lower the car at all... or at least you can't tell from looking at it.

The Monocoques are on now and my husband is driving the car home on them in about 30 minutes. He said it required "minimal" grinding, just on the cooling fins on the brake calipers.

I can't believe how LIGHT these wheels are! Hope we get a new best tonight

Pics coming soon!

They are on the car and look great had to use 5/16 spacer on front.

She is ready to go.

I run 28x10x15 ET drags on 15x10 pro-stars with a bolt in 9" Moser rear. I barely had to trim the rear quarter. They nearly fit perfect.
