Default Need info on Wolfe roll cage.

Well last night at the track I broke into the 11's finally. So now its time for a roll bar. I just want to go with a 4point and I think I like the Wolfe bolt in one. My question is I have my nitrous bottle in the spare tire well. Will I have to relocate that with the roll bar? I'm not sure where the spots are you have to mount it. Some pics would be GREAT too.

I don't think a 4 point is legal. You will need at the very least a 5 point and probably a 6 point. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

The wolfe bolt-in roll bar in ILLEGAL! Just got kicked out of Ennis for it. To pass tech you have to go with 6-point WELD in cage.

Not at the track I go to. I checked with them and he said a 4 point would do me fine untill 10.99 and even after that he said he would let me slide. It's not what you would call a high quality track. Its in freakin Nebraska.

We can get away with it at the local eigth mile tracks, but anytime we want to run 135+ at Ennis they tend to get a little upset.

NHRA requires a 5 point roll bar from 11.99-10.00. I put a 5 point chromoly bar in my car .. You can get a 5 point from the in a bolt in or weld in. I have the weld in that goes above where the gas tank is .. If I was you go for the 5 point Bolt in with the drivers side swingout . that way you wont have a bar in the way for the passengers to get in adn out and you can remove the drivers side for when your not racing .. I'm sure if they give you a hard time about the bolt in you will be able to find someone to weld it in for ya ..

Ok, but my actuall question still remains. Can I put in the bolt in style without relocating my nitrous bottle thats sits in the rear tire well.

You'll have to relocate your nitrous bottle. The wolf bolts in thru the rear speakers.

I didn't pass tech at HRP with the wolf bolt in roll bar..If your racing other than your own track, make sure you do it right and get a weld in.

Wolfe also makes a roll bar that does not go through the speaker holes. The two bars come straight down to the back off of the main hoop. This is the style that I have. The only back draw back to this style of cage is that you have to drop the fuel tank for the install. Hope this answers your questions.

I will be in the market for a bar very soon and I contacted wolfe about their bars questioning items that people had said they failed tech because of, and they said that if people were failing tech, they had not brought it to their attention.

Fogged, What was it they said failed? On the bolt-in the only thing we know is a grey area is where the rear bars attach to the main hoop. To be legal they must be welded (the seams where they join) to the main hoop. That is on our web site and we tell people when they ask. As far as bolting to the floor. That is legal. NHRA rule book specically states that the roll bar can be bolted to the floor with 1/8" plates top and bottom with 4 3/8" bolts.

If someone is concerned with the door bars being too low, we also offer a straight style door bar.

As you all know we also offer a Weld-in version of our roll bar.

Also normally you do not have to move your NOS bottle if it is mounted in the spare tire area. But that does depend on how big of a bottle your using and how you mounted it.

Thx for the input guys. I think I'm gonna get a local place to custom fabricate something for me and then I can keep my nitrous bottle hidden.

We do also offer a door bar that is a straight style door bar. IT is a couple inches higher.

WE designed the low slung door bar mainly for the street guys that don't care to be climbing over the bar on a daily basis. Since most people that need a 6-point are also still driving thier cars on the street quite often. So depending on your seat placement and the Track or Tech guy they could look at the low slung door bar as a close call type of thing.

We apologize for your inconvience and happy to here you have gotten everything striaghtened out.

They acted as if we didnt have a cage at all. Told us we could only run eigth mile passes or keep it below 12.0's. Oh yea, it is a six point cage.

What i wrote earlier about being bolted is almost straight out of the NHRA rule book. IF that is why he failed you he doesn't know the rule book. That is when it is nice to have your own copy to show them.

Was this an Ennis Tech guy or one of SLP's guys? Curious.

In the NHRA rule book is is Section 4:10 under the General Regulations.

I don't think wolfe even makes a 4pt, you should have no problem with your bottle.
