First track day and some competition Hey all
just got back into an fbody. Me my brother and some friends are having a track day to see whose best. Looking for some advice and pointers.
car is a 01 SS m6 with 410whp. 4.11 gears 12bolt sfc, umi torque bar, suspension. no weight reductions. Currently on 275 street tires but looking for decent used drag radials or slicks.
i haven’t raced it yet, not sure what rpm I should try to launch at or what to expect in general, first real drag race for me.
The competition is
my brothers 1996 500hp (crank) Mitsubishi vr4
friends 2017 supercharged Mustang gt claims 750hp, stock trans and rear.
and the real one to beat Tesla model 3 (I’d be shamed to lose to an electric)

I hope you guys are using a Christmas tree. Practice on leaving quicker than your buddies. When the last yellow comes on, LEAVE! Don't wait for the green. You need all the advantage you can get. Is that tesla 4 wheel drive and a lot of hp ? Those things are fast. You have your work cut out for you. I would start out leaving at 3500rpm, just don't bog. At that rpm, you shouldn't break stuff. Have fun!

its the long range Tesla supposedly 13.5 I think just front wheel. Pretty sure I’ll get him. The vr4 was dynod today putting 395 to all wheels. Might be a tight race with him if I don’t spin much on the launch.

If I were you I’d look into some stiff sidewalk slicks. Manual cars have a tendency to run a lot better with those compared to radials. With a proper launch with slicks, you should be a SOLID 11 second car. Of course, a lot of that depends on driving ability
Also noticed you have a 12 bolt.
If you have a proper clutch there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to take that Mitsubishi off the line and drag em!
