Question for guys with Hals...

Question for guys with Hals... This question may be a little off the wall but here goes. I am looking into buying a set of Hal shocks,struts and springs in an attemped to accomplish two things. (A) To set up a suspension system allowing the best possible ET`s on a Drag radial tire with my current and future engine mods. (B) To take some of the harshness out of the ride on these damn Michigan streets!! I only have 1,300 miles on the car and the thing developes a new rattle or squeek with each passing mile. I know some of the firmness comes from these low profile GS-C`s, but I`m hoping that with the adjustability of the Hals, I can dial some of that out. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> There probably isn`t too many folks out there running this suspension set up with the stock rims and tires (or DR`s)but could someone chime in here and tell me if I am way off base with this train of thought. Thanks.

Re: Question for guys with Hals... I see no reason the QA1 shocks wouldn't work for you. At the softer settings, they are really soft. Hopefully they won't be too "springy" though. I haven't done too much normal driving with my car with these shocks, but it seems to do OK even with skinnies on the front.
Re: Question for guys with Hals... Our project car which is a street car of main purpose and strip use second has Hal's front and rear with Eibach prokit springs,Random Tech torque arm,BMR LAC's,and stock rear sway bar.
For street use it wears stock SS rims and 275\40 Nitto drag radials.Setup for track on drag radials use is 2 for the front and 4 in the rear,with a best time of 11.42@125.56 1.79 60'
For track use with 28x10.5 ET Drags and skinnies the shocks are run at 4 on all 4 corners with a best time of 10.93@126.27
Also daily driving gets settings at 4 on all corners.

Re: Question for guys with Hals... Thanks alot for the input guys! I was also wondering, once I have the fronts in place, would it be a good idea to get an alignment? And should most any alignment shop be able to figure it out with a non-stock strut in place?

Re: Question for guys with Hals... I have hal and hate them on the street, at stock height when i brake have the front air dam hits the ground. Not one part on the car is stock I have done everything. And I do have Wilwood 6piston on the front so it realy stops. OH this is on the hardest setting. It is a autox car so I am changing to bilstein HD with Eibach Pro kit. Hoping I can make up for the autox setup with air bags in the rear for preload and quick weight transfor. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Re: Question for guys with Hals... I don't like Hals for street driving. If you stiffen them up enough to prevent nosedive they become too jouncy. Afcos would make a much better choice and they give you the ability to control ride height.

Re: Question for guys with Hals... To be honest with you, the car is a toy and will only see about 1,500-2,500 street miles a year. And most of those will be racked up traveling to and from the track. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> So drivability isn`t a huge concern. However, I do go out cruising looking for trouble sometimes and that is all city driving and it`s sounding like the Hals are a track only set-up. So what`s the skinny on the Afcos?
