Burning out in a M6
1. Drive around the waterbox and then back into the damp part of the waterbox (not the puddle) and do a short peel out to get the tires wet.
2. Roll up a bit to a more dry area
3. Dump the clutch at 3500-4000 rpm in 1st gear (the tires will spin because they are wet, the car shouldn't move at all)
4. carefully grab the brake pedal with your clutch foot, hold just hard enough to keep the car from moving forward.
5. Keep the rpm between 5000-5500 on the tach, until you see the tires smoking in the mirrors
6. let off the brake and peel out up to the line.
On Drag Slicks, you drive through the water and drop the clutch in 2nd gear instead of 1st.

Nineball,
with et streets and 4:10 should I do the burnout in 2nd? I been doing it in first but that was with a 3:73 gear

Regardless of the rear tire, if you are running radials up front, go around the water box and then back into it. Radial tires will hold water in the tread and drop it in 'the groove' as you pull up.
If you are on non drag radial tires, do a very short "cleaning" of the tires by just spinning a bit on dry pavement in front of the water box, then move up to the line. Doing a hard burnout on most real radials is essentially useless, and only serves to unnecessarily heat the drivetrain and stress parts.
If you are using DR's, ET Streets, slicks, etc, then I suggest going around the water box, backing into it, and then pulling most of the way out (as Tony said). However, I would do a 2nd gear burnout - even on DR's. The reason is tire speed - first gear won't give you enough tire speed to properly heat the tires, and DR's need to be heated just like a slick for most cars.
Good luck to you.
As stated above, wheel speed is the reason for the 2nd gear burnouts. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Good luck. <img border="0" alt="[angel]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_angel.gif" />
