Default slicks on highway

I got goodyear slicks 12in wide by 27in high. What will happen by running these on the highway for about 30 miles? Im not worried about the wear because there brand new and i only paid 20$ for both. I am just worried about blowing a tire and going off the road. Also worried about what it might do to the car. Anybody run slicks on the highway and what psi.

Same as above, I'f had no problems with my ET streets on the road/highway/interstate. They have worked just fine. With about 20 lbs cold in them i even got 24 mpg on the way back from the track on highway/interstate and I'm running RICH, so I don't think they add a lot of rolling resistance. Not sure how much difference there is between them and the Hoosier slicks, though.

Thumbs up

I've driven over 150 miles in a night (including racing) with full Hoosier slicks (not talking about street slicks) before. Sustained interstate speeds were not a problem.

Watch for cops (they're not street legal of course) and DON'T hit any rain!

Thanks, that makes me feel a little better. They arent street slicks they're track slicks, no tread lines or anything and soft wrinkle sidewalls. Are soft sidewalls safe on the highway even if the tires say "not for highway use" on the side?

...or a big pothole or you'll be buying a new rim. Been there done that years ago with a M&H Racemaster (~to an ET Street).

i could handle driving on et streets, but they soon got on my nerves. They just felt to flexy to me even with 29psi in them. I hit a rough patch of road and I really didnt think i was gonna be able to keep the car stable. Turns suck also so you gotta go below the posted MPH. When you pass cars you will actaully feel the car shift weight when cross the center line. Its a little freaky, but you will get use to it. I just got tired of it and out nittos back on for the street. Those tires are made for straight lines so as long as you are going straight they will be fine..

btw, no way in hell i woluld be caught going 150 on them either... thats insane LMAO. He's got some major b@lls doing that HAHAAHHAHHA

Be careful it is EASY to work the smallest bit of metal into the tire and it will let go FAST on the highway. Pump the slicks up to 30psi and be VERY careful.

ET streets are more stable and also thicker through that area. ET streets are MUCH safer for the street than full slicks.

I disagree if the slicks are Hoosiers. My ET Streets feel no more stable (slightly less so if anything) than do my Hoosiers. I wouldnt' have thought it either.

Well full slicks are not street legal - disclaimer

I'd pump them up to 25 at least, 30 max. If you run them at like 14-16 psi the car will waggle.

If you hit oil, water or any other fluids be careful don't over correct.

Of course my FRIEND put his at 13psi near his house and ripped a few passes on the street and wacked a few Mustangs. He has a red Formula.
