head and cam trap speed question i have a 2001 ram air firebird. i recently had thunder racing install gtp stage 2 heads and 224 cam. i went to the track on street tires and stock 342 gears. i was spinning horribly. 60ft was 2.30 range. my 1/8 mile times were 8.9 and is usually 8.20. i know that is because of poor traction. my question is my trap speed before was 111mph and now it is 115mph. should it be higher?
Re: head and cam trap speed question There are about a million variables involved in trying to determine what your mph "should" be. The factors to consider:
-Your stock gears
-Weather conditions
-Traction (thoughout entire run...not just on launch)
-your driving ability
I'm willing to bet that the street tires are killing your mph. Without traction, you won't go anywhere fast, no matter how much HP you've got.

Re: head and cam trap speed question With my heads/cam combo on 16" GS-C's, I regularly cut 2.0-2.1 60 ft running 12.20's @ 118-119 mph, my best was 119.93 mph.
