Here are my experiences, summarized by type:

15x3.5 regular Draglites
-used in front
-have always used 5/16 spacer
-no grinding needed

16x9 Draglite XP/6.5
-used in rear
-weighed ~22 lbs similar to stock
-used different lugs than regular Draglites
-was able to more effectively use 26x11.5x16 ET Streets went mid 1.5's on them
-pic: https://ls1tech.com/moderators/psj/psjmfba2bg.jpg
-Cannot use 245-16 radial on these rims
-no grinding, no spacers

16x8 Draglite XP/5.5
-see above comments
-ran 245-16 Nitto DR's on them
-no grinding, no spacers

15x8 Pro Star/5.5
-major grinding, no spacer

15x10 Pro Star/7.5
-even more grinding than 15x8 in 1-2 spots, no spacer

I have heard of two folks needing some grinding with the new Bogarts, both in front and back, not a lot but some.

Steve, I had heard the same thing, not a horror story but some touching up of the calipers.

So do you have to grind the calipers if you use the 15" XP`s?

In response to grinding for bogart rims, a few people have had to touch up with a file some of the flashing that was on the caliper.

There are a few reasons for this, due to manufacture tolorances not every caliper is exactly the same, In addition, since the calipers are floating, there are tolorance difference in brake pads which can also have caused this situation with a few guys.

To date, of all the rims that I have sold since Bogart started production of these for us, I have not heard of any horror stories regarding the calipers needing any type of major grinding. A few guys had VERY MINOR cleaning up of the rim. I believe Bruce R. had this occur and he mentioned one front wheel took about 5 minutes to quickly clean up the caliper. Maybe someone else can chime in whom has had this experience.

These rims are the best on the market for our cars for a direct replacement rim.

I hope the author of this post is ok with my comments, it appears he has decided on purchasing weld rims which is completly fine, they will work.

I am just adding some alternatives to his post and to all others interested in purchasing drag rims.

You can't use Weld ProStars or Draglites without either grinding the caliper or getting a small disk brak setup.

Your other options are:

Sell your rims and get either Centerlines or Bogarts. (I think Bogarts don't require grinding.)

Or, grind those puppies.

FACE PROTECTION IS A MUST AT ALL TIMES!MAke sure you wear jeans and long sleve shirt. Watch for big baggy sleeves on your shirt too.

A guy on here knows all about that. I forgot who it was, but he was grinding his calipers and set the grinder down. He accidentally hit the button which then spun the wheel and threw all kinds of alum. shavings into his eye. He had to have his eye SCRAPED.

What part exactly do I need to grind? Steve10... How much more do the Bogarts tuck in than the Draglites in the 15x3.5 & 15x8 sizes?

Is Bogart considering a slightly wider 15" rim for the front, for the guys who want to save some weight but don't want to run that skinny of a tire. Say something like a 15x5 that you could get a wider tire on instead of the standard 165r-15 Metric?

So depending on if its an LS1 or an LT1 setup your looking at it bringing the rear wheel inward approx 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the welds. Comparing the fronts 4 inch bogart against welds, The LS1 and LT1's are approx 1/16-3/16 inches inward.

I haven't speced any rims up to that size since most everyone wants the skinnier rim, but I can do some calculations and see what I come up with if you like. I'm not sure of what type of gain your going to get since your only choices of tires will be street type tires which aren't too light.

One quick thought for you to ponder also is that since the Bogart fronts are a 4 inch rim, there may be choices of putting a wider street tire on the 4 inch rim. Tires have a range of what rims you can place them on which are speced from the manufacture. I have not checked on if there are any tires manufactured that are larger then standard "skinnies" but I would imagine they are out there. If there are tires that will work, this may be a very good alternative for you.

Hope this helps

I had to grind mine and then I had to use a 5/16th spacer on the rear.

Steve10... When you add up the larger backspacing & eliminate the 5/16 spacer that most of us use, that's 13/16" difference on the back & 7/16" difference on the front! That's a considerable difference.
As for the bigger size,I was trying to get a 15x5 Weld on the front so I could use a tire that would give at least a little bit of cornering.I ground as much as I thought was safe on the caliper (A HUGE AMOUNT) but still needed a 7/16" spacer, so I opted for the tried & proven 3.5" rim. I was willing to give up some weight with a 15x5 & larger tire to have the car still handle like a car instead of a boat, but couldn't make it work. Even with a 4" rim your still limited to a traditional skinnie tire. You still need a 26" tall tire for ABS operation so the choices are limited. Need to go to at least a 5" rim before you get some choices.
Since my Welds are pretty new it'll be a while before I can justify a change but I would think there's a market out there for a 15x5 front rim that fits the LS1's w/o grinding or a spacer. It would be for the guy who wants a set of front wheels that match his rear wheels, save SOME weight, but still have a good handling daily driver & safe tires
