Expected better runs - advice wanted
It was a cold night and they finally shut us down when it hit 37 degrees. Could it have made that much difference to the street tires?
Keep in mind that Steve Sanders was there with his lightly modded LS1 and Nittos and cut 2 12.71's and a 12.68 in an A4 w/2300 stall. (Great meeting you, Colonel!)
Here is the best slip from tonight. (December 6, 38 degrees, humidity 75%). Feedback is welcomed
60' - 2.231
330' - 5.863
1/8 - 8.776 @ 85.01
1/4 - 13.433 @ 105.72
By comparison, here is previous best (November 15th, 50 degrees, humidity 80%)
60' - 2.09
330' - 5.665
1/8 - 8.573 @ 85.01
1/4 - 13.234 @ 105.26
I tried several launch techniques, starting with just wiping off the tires and launching hard from a 1500 rpm footbrake (went completely up in smoke twice), to a full burnout and an 1100 rpm footbrake with an easy throttle roll on (the best run).
Tire pressure = 30 lbs.
OK guys, help me get my self respect back.
Idonno about everyone else but, TB bypasses aren't doing you any favors in those temps as far as I can tell.
Just practice launching though. You're whole race depends on the 60' time (as Y2K said).
55 degrees, 35% humidity, 30.13 baro
60' - 2.062
330' - 5.625
1/8 - 8.518 @ 85.29
1/4 - 13.139 @ 106.50
Let the pressure all the way down to 20 lbs in the KDW's for that pass. I think I got just about all this setup had in it, so until I go for drag radials, etc, I'll be content. Besides, I beat two Cobra's and a Boss 302!!
