Default Folks with manual brakes...

I'm converting my car to manual brakes and getting rid of the big bulky brake booster. I'm going to use the kit that Madman sells and make up all new brake lines for the front, and re-do half of the rear brake lines.

Anyway, anyone have any creative suggestions on the front brake line routing? I'm thinking of running the line to the passenger side along the back of the firewall (up underneath the cowl) and down the framerail (instead of that line running down across the steering rack). Then I would be an easier swap to a true manual rack if I ever go that route, and the brake line(s) would be tucked up more out of sight.

I'm trying to clean up the jumbled mess under the hood and make everything look a little neater...

I just got done removing my k member, I am thinking about rerouting my brake lines also.
the way they are bent around the stock k member is nuts, no way it'll go around the bmr k member very good.

I was looking into doing the aerospace kit Billingsley has, they have a street version with a bit thicker rotors. But am a bit scared it may not stop good or at all after a few hours of street driving. (not to mention I already yanked out the e brake)

I think I may just get the eradispeed rotors and keep the stock calipers to shed some weight. <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />

I have the Strange kit, when I talked to MADMAN he told me it was against NHRA rules to run brake lines on the firewall. I wanted to be able to drop the k-member/engine with out taking brakes off so I ran the lines all the way up front and cut across at the lower radiator support.

Thanks guys...

I didn't know about the NHRA rule regarding the brake lines... I think I'll just route the line similar to stock so I don't have to worry about anything. I have a PA tubular k-member, but since I'll be fabbing up new brake lines from scratch, it shouldn't be a problem to make them work well/look nice with the tubular k-member.

Per the NHRA rulebook, the brake lines cannot pass the bell housing area unprotected. This is in case of a flexplate/flywheel explosion.

George,
an exception to this rule is if the line is enclosed in a .125 wall thickness tube securely fastened to the frame/firewall.

Terry,
I'll check out that Aerospace kit some more for you.

Happy New Year Guys!
