Question Track advice

So I am going to the track next weekend and I am a bit concerned on how well I am going to do. My car doesn't have very many modifications. What it does have is: Borla exhaust, K&N filter, skip shift (not really a mod), uh and that's it. Told ya, not much. My main concern is how do I insure that I don't really mess something up in my car. What do I need to be careful of and how do I take care of my car without being a total *****. I really can't afford to break anything major and I don't have my warranty anymore. Any suggestions on how to go about doing a good job, having fun, while still saving the car would be greatly appreciated.

just go around the water box. Straighten the car and just spin the tires a tad to clean them off. Try probably 26psi in them(no need to go to low in stock tires). Just line up and slip the clutch out or however you like launching. Free you mind on the shifts and just let them come natural. Start out taking your time and getting a feel for the track and the return lane. When you are confortable, just let it rip. No need to feel like you suck or thinking others are saying you suck. Everyone doesnt do great their first times out. Its fun and you learn everytime you go there. Just start out slow, then try a lil harder every pass

good luck and let us know how you do

I'd invest in an aftermarket shifter like a B&M or Hurst billet or whatever works best for you. You need a good shifter to get some good fast shifts.

I've been able to run 12.87 at 111 in my 02 Z28 M6 with a lid/filter/Flowmaster catback on regular Goodyear RSAs. The weather was in the low 60s that day so that helped. But to get the most out of your car you need to power shift and it helps having an aftermarket shifter. Power shifting is worth 1-2 tenths and 1-2 mph.

Good luck.
