ABS has nothing to do with it. I personally use a line lock. It is very handy when workin on the car cause when I jack it up I can lock the front brakes.
You can do a burnout without one.
1 Pull through the water
2 Stop
3 Put car in 2nd gear (or 3rd)
4 Bring rpm up to 3500ish
5 Drop the clutch and put your left foot on the brake to hold the car.
Voila instant burnout!
It may take some practice but it works.
The line lock is much better cause you wont be wearing out your rear brakes in the process. Plus before turning it on you can stand on the brakes hard as hell n hit the switch. It aint goin nowhere till you turn it off.

Yeah I saw I guy try it but was stopped and didn't dump the clutch. He just tried to let the clutch out while trying to give it gas slowly and it seemed to push the car forward but burnout and then the front smoked and smelled bad as hell. I figured it was the abs was having fits trying to figure out what was happening. So if I can stand on the brake was its burning out and it will stay there.

I have BFG TA DR's and I do the following.
Drive around the water box then back into the box.
With the tires in the box quick spin to get the tires wet.
Roll forward about 2-3 feet.
Tach up the motor, dump the clutch and jump on the break. (Tricky part here)
If the rear starts to move on me laterally I let off the brake slightly and roll forward still spinning the tires.
Hope this helps some...
