Default Best launch method??

What's the best way to get my stock 98 TA auto off the line? What rpms should I launch at? I'm new to this so don't be beatin' on me!

Iwould stall to about 1200 max. Your drivetrain wwill load up and you'll have a little wheel spin off the line. This is good because you won't bog out. If you run E.T. Streets or Drag Radials, you might run a little slower because of the bog.

If you get to much wheel spin try it at around 1000. Also do a run where you just pucnch it to get a good comparison.

For me the punch it off the line works best, no loading up. I cut 1.960 60 foot times all day long. If I try to load it up, I run into more traction issues and never run good 60' times. If your using street tires let the pressure out to around 26psi. Over this year of racing E.T drags I seen a lot of people doing test and tune with 98-02 F-Bodys and some not running very good times just because they were loading up and running too much air pressure in the rears. I have 3:42's now and it makes some difference, but otherwise all I have is a catback, fipk, and predator tune.

I dont bother with defalting my tyres. With a little heat, they grip well enough. Ive also found the flash from the line without stall works best. Consistently cut my best 60' times of 2.0 and 13.0 ETs. Deflating the tyres costs me MPH and gains me nothing in the 60' with the stock converter.

When I get my hi-stall in then its a new ball game.

Question

I run stock converter and a 2.73 with GS/C.

I tried several ways: punch or stall (2 sec.) 1000rpm up to 1500rpm. I left each time about the same patch on the road (no bog) BUT the trans feels more sluggish with stall. Like a little slip or hesitation up to 2500rpm.

Any technical idea?

The race was today. We don't have drag strips here in Ireland so it was held on the back straightaway of a local race track. It was just for fun and we only had 2 runs each. My best was 14.90 with my passenger(!), so plenty of room for improvement. A couple of buddies entered and one made 14.79 in his 90 LT1 Vette auto and the other 18.09 in his 04 Hummer H2 with his family on board - looked funny all helmeted up! We got no MPH results but I crossed the line showing 98 on my speedo. I still beat an EVO 8 and a Skyline GTR with my time tho and came 5th overall.
