Default Kirkey seat questions.

First off, Ive read the instructions on Kirkey's website about a hundred times already and I cant seem to understand how to measure correctly. I dont want to do it wrong and order the wrong ones. Can someone help me out in this department?

Secondly, whats the difference between the tweed and the velour seat covers? Does anyone have pics of both?

Lastly, I know most of you fabricated your mounting, but Kirkey does offer this as well, does this work for our cars? Here's the link to the mounting brackets:

http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...02&prmenbr=361

Is anyone using either one of those or both? Will they work in our cars with a roll bar?

I used my stock seat brackets and some angle iron to do my mounting.

to measure, just sit on a countertop or desk or something and place a book or two objects of some kind on bolth sides of your hips. get up and measure how far apart they are. that is your width.

Well it was just over 15 inches, so I would buy a 16" correct? Whats the downfall if I were to use a seat thats too big? I have a small waist. (6'2", 170 lbs.)

Does anyone know the difference between the velour and tweed covers? Anyone have pics?

Thanks for clarifying how to measure.

On Kirkey's website, they list vinyl, velour, and cloth, but Jeg's only list tweed and velour. I assume the tweed is the cloth. Is the vinly a synthetic leather type material?

Here is a picture of the coth. I was VERY surptised as to how nice it looked. I was expecting something very cheap looking but I think it looks real nice. I have never seen the velour in person.

Cloth (the picture is a little dark...):

From the looks of the pic, the cloth would be the tweed. Looks very nice by the way. Thanks for the pic.

Yes, the tweed is the cloth. They are pretty comfortable, too. Maybe I'll actually get them mounted in my car one day! Strictly Performance is making me a some custom brackets so they will fit just right...

I have the tweed. They look nicer than velour. I went with 17 wide since I am 6'1, 200 lbs and 34 waist... works for me. The seats are comfortable but are not as plush as stock seats, not as comfortable as stock but the Kirkeys are safer in a high speed crash... and I am hoping for regular 9's this year.

I like the looks of tweed, but what kind of material is velour? Does anyone have this material? Would what be the disadvantage or drawback if I was to order my seat too wide. I placed 2 books on the side of me while sitting down on a table, and then measured in between. It was a little over 15 inches, so I was thinking of getting the 16". I only weigh 170 lbs., but Im 6'2" with a 30" waist (roughly). I wear 32" pants, but I like them a little big. What size do you think I should get?

I ordered a 17" and an 18". 17" for me and 18" for my passanger or if my butt gets too big one day.... Not sure what the effects would be if you sat in a seat that was too big. It might just be a little uncomfortable. Maybe just get the 16" since you are a little bigger then 15". BTW, I am 6'3", weight 195, and wear a size 36.

Ok...well Summit carries RJS products, so I might just order it from there. Originally I was going to order it from Jeg's, but they dont carry RJS products. I wanted to order the seat, cover, harness, and roll bar padding all at the same time. Anyhow, Summit has a bigger selection. They offer vinly, which is a synthetic leather right? They offer cloth, which is the tweed and they also offer velour, which I have no earthly idea what that is. So Im set on the brand of seat, just have to figure out what width. Then I need to decide on what material. Then that will be it for the seat and cover. Then Im going to have to decide on the harness which is even more complicated because there are so many variations.

Do you want to fit snug into the seat or have a little room to move around in it? If I were to go with the 16" wide, Im sure that I will fit snug in it, but I dont want to be uncomfortable. Im sure over time, I will gain weight, do you think that I should just bump it up an inch? My measurement was a little over 15" so I was going to get the 16", would the 17" be too much?

I would just get whatever size you are now. Maybe you could get the passanger seat in a size 17" (if you are even getting a passanger seat). Otherwise, you can always buy a new seat in a couple years if your *** gets too big :-)
