Default any alternatives to hals?

I was wondering if there were any alternatives to hal shocks. If so, what are they and what are the prices and benefits/disadvantages?

thanks

used to have Hals, now i have AFCOs on the front.

they cost a ton more, are much more of a PITA to install, and wont go as stiff on compression as i would like which causes some bad nose dive on braking (really i probably should be using a stiffer spring). i wasnt really too happy with them. then today i went to the track for the first time with them on and i love them <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> . huge improvement in being able to make the car do what i want it to off the line

Strange Engineering offers a complete strut package that will elimanate the upper control arms and spring perch. Completely adjustable and possibly the lightest setup available outside of going to all out chromoly strut front end. A bit pricy! I'm looking at a Strange cataloge and comes with fittings to weld to your control arm,bearings,4-piston pro steel brake kit. Springs not included. Retail $2,524.50

Smith Performance shock mounts...

You can get a set of the shock mounts ready to go and then you can use any race shock you want...
*Afco
*Penske
*Qa1
*Strange
*Koni

I would give Jay Billingsley a call though and see if he can help you out as I am sure he handles a few shocks and is great to deal with.

Billingsley also has Strange Drag Shocks, they are about half the prices as HALs, but they are only 10 way adjustable instead of 12 way. I don't see a HAL shock set as zero having any advantage over a Strange Drag Shock set at zero.
