Default Automatic Launch Question

When i had my 6 speed SS, i brought the rmp's up at the staging lane and dropped the clutch at launch. Worked out Great. I now have a Automatic.
What are you guys doing to get a decent launch? I spin the tires if i hold the brake in and bring up the RPM's, but feel like im starting out like crap without bringing the RPM's up. There has got to be a technique that someone can share with me for this. I know its a stupid question, but im looking for the right answer here. Leaving it in neutral and dropping it into drive, seem's like a expensive idea... any help on this is greatly appreciated thanks

First off are you using drag radials? If you don't have them get them. Do an extra long burnout to really get the tires hot. When staging, try to find the tire tracks of the racer before you, drop it in 3rd and bring your RPM up to about 1500. Gun it hard if you have no mods or give it 3/4 gas and then full gas when you feel the tires hook. Track conditions have a lot to do with how you launch. Good luck.

I always had my best luck flashing the stock converter from idle.

I have had my best luck with both my stock converter and the vig by leaving at 1100 rpms leaving the car in drive but I have been running on non drag radials.

Im guessing that this is the draw back to having a automatic.. Not shifting , or missing a shift is the advantage.. I am becoming a master of the obvious. I have heard some people talk about line locks, wasnt sure if that was a good way to go.. Thanks

Flashing the convertor is when you leave in idle flash stall is usually higher than what you can foot brake it at example if you foot brake it and give the car gas your tires may break free at1500 rpms if you let the car idle and nail the gas you may actually hit 1800 or so when the tires start to engage just got to see what the car likes and hooks up at and compare et,s
