Default Welding in a roll bar. (rules)

I just finished welding up the entire roll bar and is sitting inside the car now waiting to be welding to the floor. The entire bar is fully TIGed and I was wondering if it would be ok to MIG it to the floor or does it have to be TIGed as well? Why does it have to be TIGed in the first place? I have a Wolfe 6 point chromoly roll bar. My main question is if I would be ok to weld the entire bar (all 6 points) to the floor of the car with a MIG or if it has to be TIGed? Thanks.

I had my bar TIG'd to the mounting plates on the floor, but I welded the mounting plates to the car with a MIG.

To be NHRA legal all 4130 cromoly must be TIG welded. Even if it is welding to the mild steel plates. Now the plates that we supply are Mild steel and they can be MIG welded, but the 4130 roll bar must be TIG welding to the plates.

Ok, the entire bar is completely TIG welded and the mounting plates are TIGed to the points as well, but I wasnt sure if I could weld the plates to the floor with a MIG or if it had to be TIGed as well.

You can MIG the plates to the FLOOR, but have to TIG the bar to the plates. Think that's what Dan just said.

You have to TIG 4130 because if you don't, the welds will be weaker than the tubing itself. With mild steel, the E70 MIG wire is higher strength than the tubing.

I have another problem...

I fully installed the roll bar, painted it, and was in the process of installing my stock seat to see where about its going to be and its too far forward. So I spent all day today cutting the plates from the floor board. On the main hoop, I cut the pipe from the plate because it was too much trouble doing it any other way. Anyhow, I cut about 2 or 3 inches off the bottom of it and was thinking of moving it further back onto the hump. I have some pics, but I use Image Station to host my pics and they always come up as red Xs. I can send someone pics of they can host them for me. I wanted to show everyone where I wanted it, where it was, and if I can put it where I want to put it. Thanks.
