Default Slow It Down

Other than adding weights, is there any other way to slow down a few tenths once the cool weather hits. (programming??)

I will be 11.7-11.8 if I run full out, and am not allowed to run under 12.0.

Thanks for any suggestions, and please don't tell me to put in a roll bar & run it full out.

Change your timing or add a throttle stop.

what's your setup? what kind of track do you run at? maybe you should look into NHRA's new street rule, 11.50 and faster is the new rule for safety equimpment. You will get tired of slowing down all the time. Why mod the car just to go slow?

My car is pure bolt on mods.

To my knowledge, Englishtown is NOT adopting the Pure Stock rule in elimination races.

I participate in the Corvette Challenge, Gamblers, and other events they hold.

Just wondering if there was an alternative to weights.

Change your timing, as stated previously. If you have a Diablo Tuner, you can easily change your timing. I can ask my friend with his Z06, he has a race tune and street tune. I'll ask the power differences.

You can "short" your shift points, use a throttle stop, or just pay attention to you RPM and back out of the throttle a little...Hehe, that's what makes index and brackets fun. It aint always about going fast...It's Winning races!!

Thanks for the tips..

Short shifting it sounds OK, but I was wondering if I got the Diablo Predator, would it save my current LS-1 Edit tuned program?

If it did, then I could just load up a stock program, less torque management & abuse mode, and that timing & other stock stuff might be the .2 to .3
I need in cooler weather..

Dont worry man, your not going to get pulled over on the track. The cops usually wait till you go home to pull you over.

The easiest thing would be to fab up a mechanical throttle stop... I used to do the same thing with my '98 Z28 for bracket racing in a class that I could dial no quicker than 12.00...

Just drill and tap a hole in the throttle body (on the pad right behind the throttle arm), and thread in a bolt (3/16" is what I used, IIRC) and a jam nut to keep it in place. You can adjust the amount of "stop" to dial the car in right where you want it.
