Default trans brake, roll control, two step

Hi All,
How is everyone setting up their trans brake, roll control and two step. My guess is the 2 step can be used during the burnout and while staging but I'm pretty bad at guessing. How should I hook all this stuff up? I have a button on the shifter, I guess that will be for the trans brake. Should I use just the trans brake to stage or use it with the roll control and/or 2 step? Where's a good place for the roll control button?

Also- do I need to add anything to the trans brake control to keep anyone from engaging it at the wrong time? The thought of launching then accidently rengaging the terans brake just gives me this vision of car parts scattered all over the track. I could hook up a few relays so seperate buttons could be used to set and release the trans brake, has anyone done that before?

I want to keep it simple and safe.

Thanks

I can only tell you the way I have it set up. Works great for me.

I have a TurboAction Cheetah shifter, which has a built in transbrake button. I have my 2-step tied into it. The only way you can "engage it at the wrong time" is by pushing it in after your launch - you really don't want to do that.

My line-lock is an entirely separate button. I only use it during burn outs.

You could actually tie everything together for the launch after staging. BUT you still would need a separate button for the line-lock on the burn out.

Think which each does - T/B, L/L and 2-step - logically. Go from there for your needs.

Sounds good. A friend of mine says he doesn't like the transbrake on the shifter button, he says when he lets go of the button it's real hard to keep from pulling the shift back when it launches. He's got huge arms, maybe it's just him.

How about a switch and a light on the dash, when the switch is down the button on the shift will work the line lock, flick the switch up, the warning light comes on and the button now works the trans brake and 2 step.

Whatever I do, I'll make it easy to change just in case.

Mine is the exact same a Navy david's.

I only use the 2 step when running nitrous, but it can also be used if you are having
trouble hooking up(so you are not full tilt on the 'verter.)

I was going to try to use the 2 step to flash the converter, will that work? Set it low and let all hell break loose when I let go of the button.

That black car in your sig- hey dude , get down from there!

I always got the best 60's sitting on the verter, but it is a nice thing to have.

Figure out what your car likes at the track.

i recommend putting the line lock on the shifter...and the tbrake button somewhere else...like on the counsel (thats where i have mine). 3 reasons for not having the tbrake on the shifter:

1. Some people have problems with pulling second right after release (01z doesnt because he is god)...but i have told some other guys not to do that...and they didnt listen...then later they came back to me and said i was right and they moved the button.

2. I HAVE seen top drivers accidently hit the button on their shifters or steering wheels when going down the track. If the car gets out of shape for what ever reason and you are fighting to gain control...theres no telling what can happen. AND I HAVE SEEN THIS HAPPEN.

3. When releasing the tbrake button as fast as possible...its easier to react if youre not worried about keeping your hand in that location. If youve ever looked inside the car of some top guys leaving off a brake...you will see there entire hand swing away from the button trying to release it as fast as possible. (again, this does not apply to 01z...he needs a delay box to keep from redlighting off a protree because his reactions are faster than most humans)

I use my 2-step if I'm footbrake to spool the turbos. Transbrake and line lock are kinda obvious. My line lock is on a button right behind the shifter and the transbrake is on the handle of my Pro Stick. I also have a lighted interrupt switch for the transbrake on an aluminum panel where my A/C controls used to be. This keeps me from accidently hitting it while going 70.

put the line lock on the shifter and the trans brake on a coil cable. IMO

I learned 2 things- Put the trans brake button somewhere off the controls used to normaly drive the car, and...I hope I never have to race OZ1.

heh, I like Tubbys idea, but I'm going to pit a little twist to it. I'm going toget one of those fake hand grenades, put a switch in it and run a coil wire to it, then when its time to go just release the lever on the grenade and chuck it on the passenger side floor where it's out of the way....... uhhh .... maybe just a push button
