Here are a couple more videos to make you think about safety:

Viper hitting a wall:

If anyone else has some to post, feel free to do so.

Wow, the instructor in the Viper acted pretty cool and calm like it was just another day at the office. Souned like they hit pretty good, I bet the driver had the shakes for the rest of the day.

On top of the safety factor, I think roll cages look so badass. I should have mine installed right after i get around this pesky emissions testing

Holy sh*t that viper hit the wall hard. Safety is first in my opinion.

I'm gald I've never had anything bad happen to me. I'm getting really close to 11's now and should get one as soon as possible. I've put off racing for a couple of months for even more speed. Should do 1 more month to get the cage. Where's a good spot in Either Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Waco, Or DFW area to get one done?

Damn im only running 13 flat (should be good for mid 12s on slicks) and iv already got a 6 point in my 68. Once i dip into 11s ill probably have a full cage put in.

hmm.. if i totaled my car i might as well be dead, i know id prolly want to be... but regardless... i guess its time to put a 6 point cage in. One thing i know ill be getting is a fire extinguisher.. i had a fire in my brand damn new z28 once i put in the n2o.. had a switch short out and burn up the carpet.. it happened at the lights no less.. i left before the other guy even fully staged and put the fire out with my hand going down the track and back to the pits lol.. so even for those who dont need a cage yet, a lil fire extinguisher could save a lot of interior damage or burns on ur hand.

Good God, yeah a roll cage can save your life but what do you have to save the car. It made me cry to see those movies.

Nope. Most (if not all) insurance companys have a clause in the policy.

In that 1st vid it's like that guy never lifted at all, the way he hit that wall.
I know things happen fast but it seemed like the guy stayed in it the whole time. Maybe the throttle got stuck open somehow?

I had a roll bar install in my Camaro when I was running 12s after a little tie in with the concrete in my Mustang. I wouldn't race without a roll bar.

Glad you are ok 67AfroMaro!

Definately no; some insurance companies won't insure you if you tell them your car is raced.

There is a company who sells a great racing insurance policy for a reasonable rate.

That's some crazy stuff. I've always worn a helmet and will probably put a cage in sometime soon.
