4L60E 1/8th shift points.

4L60E 1/8th shift points. Having a problem with our trans shifting into 3rd gear too early. For all of you with a 4l60e can you tell me about how far down the track yours shift into 2nd and do you make it through the traps without going into 3rd. When we first started racing the transmission was making it to the traps before shifting into 3rd gear. We burn't 3rd and 4th out and installed a built 4l60e and the more passes we make the worst it is shifting. trans temp 185, at times it has shifted into 4th gear in the 1/8th

Have you done any tuning with trans parameters?
I race full length, but mine would shift shortly after the 60', maybe 100' or so, then if i recall into 3rd around the 1/8th. Cant say for sure, its been a year. But tuning the trans helped out greatly.

same as George, mine doesn't shift into 3rd until past the 1/8 mile on my sportsman pros. On street tires, it will shift 3rd right about the 1/8 mile b/c of the shorter tires. I'd say I hit 3rd gear about the 700-750 ft mark.

I just took mine to the track sat after new mods.
the car is shifting just before the last two cones into 3rd in the 8th mile.

The car has been retuned and the shift points and pressure have been checked. I am going to the track tonight for some test runs with the video camera mounted and scanner hooked up. Have been told it might be a cracked drum with a pressure bleed because the pressures on the first tune were set through the roof.

Well after about 12 passes I think i will be shifting it manualy into 3rd gear. First pass with car in drive full auto shift 7.3/91.7 mph second pass 7.5 / 89.63mph third pass 7.8/88mph the more passes I make the shorter it shifts from 2nd to 3rd. I started out after that run by putting it into 2nd gear and manualy shifting into third 7.23 at 93.76mph and made at least 7 more passes this way with the same results. Trans temp and engine temp never went over 180. Anyone know if someone makes a full manual shift body for the 4l60e.
