Default Drag radial question

Do yall think I can get away with running drag radials? Are the et streets too much for my car? I don't plan on going very much further on the car for now, so should I sell the et streets and get drag radials or what? Are drag radials going to give me enough traction?

That's a huge wide open question.

If you are going to the track often, keep the ET's. If you are a road rager, the DR's are fine. I noticed you have 3.42 rear, so traction on the street shouldn't be an issue.

I'm dumping my new DR's because my car will see more track time. Plus, I have 4.10s.

2 things:
1. I would only use the tires at the track, they won't ever see any street time
2. traction on the street is an issue, I can punch it at ~30 and it will break loose.

Sounds like you are set. Nittos for the street, ET's for the track. I believe you're modded enough to not bog with the slicks.

I have a thread in the Nitrous forum about tires also. Why are the guys in there telling me that the MT drag radials are going to hook better than the ET Streets.....and in this thread you guys are saying that the ET streets are better than the drag radials....and that the ET streets could make a car bog if not modded enough (because of the added traction).

Hmmmmm

I don't speak from experience, because I've only launched off Nittos, but this new MT ET DR (enough abbreviations?) is supposed to hook better than the ET Streets.

I think you'd be ok with either. And time will tell which tire is the super hooker.

I am hoping someone with hands-on experience can help to clarify this.

ET Streets are better than all other drag radials.

But, the new MT ET Street Drag Radials hook just as good (better in my case) as ET Streets.

I have used almost all the drag radials ever produced nitto, bfg,et street, and now i run the MT Drag Radial. I have gone 1.49 60 ft on them and also since its not a wrinkle wall i have a lot more stability going down the track. Also you should pick up some MPH going through the trap with the drag radial due to that you do not have to carry that sticky et street down the entire track, the car will be able to run it out the backdoor a little faster which will = faster MPH and ET

So if I plan on running low 12's to high 11's I should be fine with mt et drag radials? I just want to make sure before I fork out the money for them. I guess if I decide to do thi, then I will have a set of barely used 26x11.5x16 et streets for sale!!

people are already running 8s with the MT DRs. It seems that almost everybody that has switched from ET Streets to the MT DRs has stuck with the radials. The only negative to the radial is the extra weight over the bias ply tires.
