roll bar?

roll bar? I am wanting to put racing seats in my car but was told that I need to put in some kind of roll bar or something. The reason I was told this is because you if get into a wreck and you just have your harnesses bolted to your floor, then you could really get injured. My question is do I have to take out my back seats to have some kind of roll bar in my car? My car is not that fast and I go the track maybe twice a year. I just like the way the racing seats/5-point harness looks. I really dont want to have to take out my back seats either.....Thanks
Depends what seats you are looking at installing? If you are referring to the Kirky Econo drag seat, then yes you/it will need support in case of an accident. If you get a non-aluminum type seat, I'm sure it might have better support. But no, you don't 'need' a roll bar when using a racing seat, I have seen many racers with this setup. But I concur, it is not safe.
You can go with a Wolfe bolt in 6-point and you will not have to take out your back seats.
It would not be a good idea for people to ride in the back of the car with the roll back in place, unless of course you get a removable horizontal bar. If you do get the removable option, it is not NHRA legal.
You will also have to get the standard rear bars that go through the rear speaker panel if you want people to sit in the back comfortably. This means you lose your rear speakers. I didn't really notice any difference in sound quality with the rear speakers out.
