Default First Time to Drag Tonight...Any Tips?

I've never driven a solid rear axle car at the track before so I'm not too sure how to launch and drive this thing. I've launched and driven Supras for the last three years so I'm not up to speed on the TA's.

I've got a 2000 TA M6 w/ only a Lid and catback, sway bars, and sfc's. Stock everything else.

Can someone give me some tips? Launching? Staging? Shift points? Etc. Anything would be helpful. Also, what would be a good ET or Trap to shoot for? What should the car run with an average driver down here in Texas? Thanks.

Drive around the water box, little burnout to clean the tires off

Once you stage, hold 2200-2500 rpm

Feather the clutch off the line till she hooks, then go WOT

Shift at 6000 rpm, the power should start to fall off after that in a stock cam car

Repeat the 6k shift.

Go to the timeslip box, (hopefully) collect high 12 second timeslip.

Thanks baddog. I knew about the waterbox, but I wasn't sure about what RPM to launch at and shiftpoints. Thanks though! I haven't taken a car down the strip in about 6 months. I'm excited!

If your Supra was a manual I would launch the same way with the Trans Am. You'll still have the same problem, too high and you spin, too low and you bog. I would hold around 2500 to 3000 and slip the clutch a little.

I wish the strips around me were open already.

You know the benefits of living in a hotter climate are not that many, but when it comes to cars, there tends to be a few more. In just about every other way, it sucks though
