Default Lightweight fans.

I'm looking for more weight to shave off and was wondering if there are lighter fans out there than what comes on the car from factory. For a drag car, is there need for a dual setup or will a single setup be fine? How much weight can be saved? Has anyone taken the time to find out which fan is the lightest? Is there any other beneifit from a lighter fan other than weight? Is it true that the more current that is drawn, the more hp that is robbed? Anyhow, again, Im looking for an alternative to my stock fans and was wondering what brand, size, where to buy from, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have an electric water pump and stock fans. I would like to keep my car on the "on" position while in the lanes, but I'm running a lightweight battery and I'm afraid that it will die on me if I keep the water pump running. I would like to run the fan and the water pump both in the lanes if my battery would hold up to it. I know if I let my car sit in the garage long enough, it will be too weak to start the car, so I have to jump it off with my stock battery.

Anyhow, I read the thread you posted. It didnt really say too much other than 1 person is running a 16" and another is running a 10". Obviously there's no need for a dual fan setup, correct? Well, if I go with a single setup, what size? What brand? What's the difference between pull and push?

the lightweight battery wont work with an electric water pump and fan if you leave them run for a few minutes - been there.

Bought cheaply another dual fan set from eBay, then, removed the higher mileage fans and resold them on eBay for more than I paid for the complete set up. Kept my stock shroud, and stuck ONLY the right side fan in the now lightened up (hole saw, etc.) used shroud. Saved 6.5#'s over the nose and have had no issues with vibration or overheating.

If I ever needed to, I could just put my stock, unmodified shroud back in with two fans. If you do this, without rewiring, your one right fan will only run on commanded high mode via the PCM or a switch like SLP's, which I use. Take care. Dave
