Thanks!
Are the other portions of the setup beneficial over just a proportioning valve?...sure there can be. They are typically setup for specific wheel/tire configurations and not adjustable. This can have it's disadvantages as if you change from extreme setups i.e. street rims to drag rims, biasing from front to rear will be very much different. Therefore an adjustable proportioning valve is a great asset to this type of setup.
Newer ABS modules and their BCM compensate for many of the above situations but can complain quite often making it very annoying to have installed. It can activate during times you really don't want it to activate.
ABS does have its place on the street for the general public but I feel that for racing applications i.e. drag or road race, they are nothing but a large nuisance. They add extra headaches, heavy, and take up too much valuable space...they also cause extra un-necessary expenses for the guys whom are purchasing aftermarket rear end and/or troubleshooting a problematic or malfunctioning unit.

Thanks again!
