Too much traction! Need launch help!
Thanks,
To get to 4000 rpm and avoid the "bog", do I need to slip the clutch until the car it going 35-40mph? The stock clutch may not survive doing that more than a few times...
Would a set of 4.10 gears help cure this?
Or break it and buy a 12 bolt or 9" and go launch at 5,000rpm!! I broke my 10bolt on Nittos launching at between 3000-3500rpm
stupid 10 bolt, but the 9" is on the way.Dan

I wouldn't slip the clutch that long you will fry it and need a new one! But thats a good thing because the car will be easier to launch with a new clutch, atleast i thought so.

you need a better clutch cause you will need to launch higher, then you will need a rear end, then you will on borrowed time with the drive shaft. welcome to the point of no return

amen. its hard to swallow the money for the rear end but once you do, you'll be 10 times happier
I have the tires at 31 psi. Same pressure at the track too and they stick like glue!
I went out and practiced launching some today on the local streets and I am getting a better feel for walking the clutch out and feeding the gas pedal in to get the car to launch without bogging. I just need to keep practicing.
4.10 gears would help, and I am leaning towards getting them, but will they make the 10-bolt even more wimpy? Would a heavy-duty rear cover help it survive?
A 12 bolt, clutch and driveshaft are in order. Driveshaft and rear go hand and hand, I'd do those at the same time... and your stock clutch would be a good thing to replace while you are at it.
It's a hard 4 to 4500 bucks to swallow, but the thought of being able to drop the clutch at 5K and not worry about those things breaking, priceless.
I went the e.t. street route ( radials weren't out when I made the purchase ) and the stock clutch took a crap on the 2nd launch... same problem you are having. F1 goodyears at the track were a joke, so I got a set of bogarts and 26 x 11.5 e.t. streets... traction problem solved. First pass I made, my car bogged so bad I thought it was gonna stall... 2nd laundh, I tried 5000, stock z06 clutch up in smoke... and that stunk for a day or 3. Spec 4I, 12 bolt with 4.10's, steel driveshaft, Spohn 1 inch solid swaybar, cam and associated parts all in... I figured the added Hp wouldn't hurt for this year either

Get that drivetrain done asap.... before you get a tow bill to get the car home, that takes away from mod $$ !
